Yes, he was wise and he was daring, for his time. Maybe for all times, although his work now speaks of a sexuality of feminine undergarments and supports which we no longer wear, for the most part. And heavy, sweet perfumes... An eroticism which required an unwrapping for which the world has little patience these days. And an extrapolation of this eroticism as a response to the larger world.
Of course, no one has ever been able to say that erotic art has been harmful to anyone. On the contrary, it has been liberating for many.
Far more harmful to us all (over many centuries) has been the suppression of the exuberant expression of sexual natures.
